Crazy but true. While the eye-catching world record sale of $90K has been called into question, there are at least three other CGC 9.8 sales we know of since.

So even discounting the dodgy $90K sale in August 2019, TMNT #1 will routinely fetch $50K on the open market.

That has trickled down to lower grades, with new records being set for the first printing:

This book used to be a few hundred bucks in high grade. Over the last few years it's virtually added a zero, since the first printing is so expensive that many people have bought this instead.

Prices have TRIPLED in most grades above 8.0 since 2018!

The inside back cover does not have the ad for Gobbledygook #1.

This is the third and final printing of the original book to feature almost identical cover art.

This edition DOES state "THIRD PRINTING" in the fine print inside the front cover, making it far easier to identify.

This (stop me if you've heard it before) is now the poor man's 2nd printing. Prices of 3rd prints have been boosted by people snapping up the best edition they can afford.

Prices have not really taken off much on this version. The 4th print is nowhere near as valuable as the first three, probably because it's so obviously different-looking.

This is the poor man's 1st, second or third printing of the first ever Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic. So it's a starting point if you can't afford those.
